More than thirty years on one platform, by choice

Danny Riebeek has worked with Microsoft SQL Server since 1993, when version 4.21 had just arrived on Windows NT and most estates were a single server under a desk. He started as a developer and database administrator, and found early on that the database was where the interesting problems lived: the slow report nobody could explain, the backup that had never been restored, the failover that had never been tried.

In 2001 he founded DatabaseOnline in Roosendaal, with a simple plan: be the people a company can call when the database is the problem, and be reachable when it matters. Twenty-five years later he still leads the company's SQL Server practice, still does the engineering himself, and still takes on-call shifts for the customers whose estates are monitored around the clock.

Along the way he built the tools he needed on customer servers and could not buy. SQLTreeo, the SQL Server Management Studio add-in that gives DBAs virtual folders and schema comparison, is used by database teams worldwide. He writes for the SQL Server community, is Microsoft Azure certified, and works in Dutch and English across the Netherlands, Belgium and, remotely, wherever a SQL Server is slow.
